DJ '66 - Vintage Jamaican and American Soul Music on (mostly) 45rpm

My DJ origins go back to Nickie's BBQ on Haight Street in the early '90s where, as far as I know, I was the first person in San Francisco to spin Jamaican oldies (ska, rocksteady and reggae) on a weekly basis.

Sound

Since the days of Dukey's Disco at Nickie's, I have expanded my repertoire to include jazz, soul, blues, R&B and '80s dancehall, and have brought this groovy journey through Jamaican and American music to bars, beer gardens, and listening spaces in San Francisco and the East Bay.

Current Venues

Current venues include Jupiter, Drake's Dealership, St. Mary's Pub, Room 389 and Alta Vina.

Where can we hear your mixes?

Unfortunately I don't have any jazz//blues/soul/R&B mixes. Sorry; you'll just have to take my word that they are as good as my Jamaican selections.

SFVRS

As co-founder of the San Francisco Vintage Reggae Society, I helped First Round Productions bring vintage Jamaican artists such as Derrick Harriott, The Jamaicans, Ken Parker and Pat Kelly to San Francisco for the first time in their careers.

Hire Me

My journey through 1950s-70s Jamaican and American music (plus modern takes on the styles [2-Tone, Daptone and other tones) is a perfect fit for bars, breweries, restaurants, patios and spaces where atmosphere, taste and musical history matter.
